The Sensoterra wireless soil moisture sensor is very easy to use. The sensor works 'plug-and-play', via the Senet LoRa network. The sensors can be placed and moved without tools, by pressing, or hammering into the ground.

Immediately after activation and registration of the sensor via the free Sensoterra app (Android and iOS), the measurements are available every hour. Via the phone's GPS, the sensor's location is automatically stored in the system, after which the sensors are displayed on the map. In the app, the sensors can be classified by location/field, soil types can be selected and thresholds can be set at which a message is sent if the soil is (too) dry or (too) wet.

Via phone or desktop app the data can be consulted easily and displayed in a graph for comparison, in addition the data can be exported to Excel. For integration with other systems/platforms or automation, an extensive API is available.

The sensor operates on a potted 3-volt lithium battery with a life of 5 to 8 years.

The single depth soil moisture sensors are also available with measuring depths of 15 cm / 6 inches, 30 cm / 12 inches, 60 cm / 24 inches and 90 cm / 36 inches.
